Description

Meet my new character, Zalie! (Pronounced Zah-lee) This is a sorta kinda reference sheet/sketch, I'm still fine-tuning a few details. Oh yeah, and a close up on her eye cause it's a little hard to make out in the full-body. The outsides of her wings are all black, and the rest of her is light grey with an appaloosa blanket marking and a white sock on the left hind leg. And yeah, I know the anatomy is pretty bad, but I'm working on it ;) Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

*Edit- Once again, sorry that the picture quality is terrible, still trying to work out a way to... fix that.

I like your character design & name! The eye & the wings (though sketchy) are beautiful! :) After looking at it, I noticed a few issues which may or may not be relevant - it depends on how you want her to look. Would you like her to look like a strong cart-pulling type horse (eg, a draft breed) or a sport horse or do you want her to look more sleek and slender? A mix? None of the above?

Also, I noticed some issues with the feet & legs. That's okay, equine legs are not easy. I would make the nail part of the hoof longer. I would also try to extend the muscle definition of the front leg up the side of the body a little more. (as I said, though, it all depends on how you want her to look ;))

The best advice (always) is to try to find examples of what you want to create (whether it be an aspect or a whole image) and use that as a reference (with citations if posting publically) until you feel comfortable enough in your own abilities. If you can find examples in real life (in this case, getting to see a live horse/horses), that would be the best. (& as far as I know, no citations are necessary since you would be recreating from your own experience.)

I did a quick Google image search for horses: [link]

I don't know if this helps, but I hope so. Let me know if you have questions or would like clarifications and I will do my best to help. :)
